CSR Bluetooth Module Accessory for iOS Devices like iPod/iPhone/iPad
As we know, Apple iOS Devices (such as iPod, iPhone and iPad devices) can connect with audio accessories (such as Handsfree, Handset, ect.) freely. However, establishing Bluetooth data connections with iOS devices requires a unique discovery/paring sequence and authentication process with the Apple authentication coprocessor.
With advanced iNova Bluetooth firmware stack running inside, NovaComm’s Bluetooth Module can establish the data connection with iOS Devices via iAP(iPod Accessory Protocol) simply and directly. For the customer who wants to develop a Bluetooth Accessory for iOS devices, use NovaComm’s Bluetooth Module can significantly reduce the cycles, cost and risk, since the authentication process and iAP have been implemented in iNova Bluetooth firmware stack completely. What the developer needs to do is just connecting the Apple authentication coprocessor with NovaComm’s Bluetooth Module simply following reference design provided by us.
Features
Discoverable/Connectable with iPod, iPhone and iPad.Allows dual profile Bluetooth connections to other smart phones or computing platforms.Allows multi-connection to different Bluetooth devices concurrently.Automatically stores Bluetooth address of the last paired iOS device, for quick reconnection.Configurable Secure Simple Pairing (SSP) mode between “no PIN code required” and “Man-In-Middle protect”Supports the complete iNova Bluetooth firmware stack feature set.Direct hardware connection to the Apple authentication coprocessor. No iAP software development required for authentication on host microcontroller.Class 1(>300m) and Class 2(>10m) versions available.Conventional Solution:
Disadvantages:
High-end host microcontroller.Complicated software and hardware design.Longer development cycles and learning curves.Hard to port code across microcontroller platforms.High risk on project delay and losing market opportunity.NovaComm iNova Solution:
Advantages:
Low-cost host microcontroller.Verified and stable iNova Bluetooth Firmware Stack with simple host interface.Developers focus on application design, no need to care about iAP.Similar interface for other smart phones and computing platforms.Quick to market with less cost.Knowledge of Apple MFi:
To develop accessories for iOS devices or products to connect to iOS devices, the developers must register and be approved by Apple’s Made for iPod(MFi)program. Licensed developers gain access to technical documentation, hardware components, technical support and certification logos.
